George Muller "realized the mission field God had in mind for him was right in front of him. God wanted him to minister to everyone he met." What are needs that you see around you? What are ways that you could serve others now?
I think it's pretty cool that the vision that George Muller had of taking care of children didn't "die with him", as Zach puts it. What's a dream or idea that you have that you want others to catch on to and run with?

All around me i see people in poverty and people who don't ask for help when they need it. I also see people who need help, bt aren't in poverty. They need help in the spiritual sense. You, or I, can serve people now by cleaning out your closet and donate things you don't need or use to organizations that will give it to people that need those things. You can also share the word of god to people who don't really know it. As for some ideas of mine, i beleive that there are people who need help but dont want top admit it ecause they dont think its that bad. Well I think there should be a place where poeple can go anonymously and say what they need help with, just tell an adress, and some form of help will come!
People who I see that need help are people who need friends and love. People treat these people poorly because they are different and not like them. When I see these people being put down by other people I try to help them by being a friend to them. Other people that I know need Spiritual help, because they do not have a relationship with Christ. I then try to be a good example around them so they will question what is different about me.
As I said I want to be an exanple to others so they will wonder about me so I can teach them about Christ. Then hopefuly they wil run with that and try to learn more. That is a personal goal of mine.

I do feel bad for people in India and third-world countries and stuff. Honest. I do. But i think that a lot of times we focus only on people outside of america, or even outside of ohio. and i know nobody wants to go on a missions trip to ohio..because we live here. but i think we forget sometimes about the people right in front of us that need our help and compassion. my goal isn't set in stone solid yet or anything, but ive always really wanted to help the people in my community. sometimes its even harder to help the people you know, just because you do know them...if that made any sense.
I agree with liz when she said that the people who i see needing help are the ones who are too proud to ask for it. I think that you can make a difference in all the small things that you do. You don't have to be a Zach Hunter and make a huge change. The day-to-day choices that you make can affect how others see you and how they act around you.
One thing that I want people to really pay attention to is evangelism. A lot of times we pass up opportunities because we are scared of what people will think. If each one of us converted one person, adn that person converted someone, and it kept going, it would make a HUGE difference in the world. I think we should all strive to show Christ in the way we act.

ben, i like what you said anbout converting one person who converts anther. That reminds me of a movie called Passing It Forward, or something like that and a little boy shows compasion to someone in hope that someone will pass that compasion on. Its really great, and it goes along with this. I don't know why i didnt think of it. Thanks!
I think school is a great opportunity to reach people for Christ. Especially if you go to a public school. By treating everyone equally and going out of your way to help others, you can show the love of Christ to your classmates. Also, you can help serve others by going to near-by cities like downtown Akron and Cleveland and handing out sandwhiches and Bibles to anyone who wants them. My Sunday School class did this last year, and although I couldn't go I thought it was a great way to indirectly witness.
I'm not really sure what I want others to pick up when I die. I guess I've never really thought about it b4. I'll think about it and then maybe update later.
i agree with Liz, we do see poverty around us everywhere even if they wont admit they need help they most likly do. We could serve others by donating things like toys for kids or clothes we dont use anymore. An idea I have is that we find a way to get alcoholics or people who are addicted to drugs to go to an AA meeting or a rehab center. I know someone close to me who is an alcoholic but will not admit it and i want to find a way to get this person to go to AA meeting soon.
yeah what bethany said about the downtown cleveland handing out sandwhiches to the homeless men..i went and it was really great. and they all seemed really appreciative. it was a great way to show them that there are people who care.
i think i said this on another blog but i'll use it again cuz its really important to me.
alot of people (especially teenagers) put alot of focus on the word 'cool'. whats the big deal? what-people follow you around, and look up to you even if you're a total JERK just cuz they think you're 'cool'. yeah, for some reason, that doesnt seem right. in my mind, the 'cool' people are the people that try NOT to be cool. basically, if you're trying to be cool you're saying, 'i'm not happy with who i am and i want other people to like who i am. i know this because i used to be one of these people. but over the past 2 years i've come to this conclusion. I really think God made me an awesome person. if people dont like, thats their problem. i like the person that God made me. and thats all that matters.

Some needs I see around me today are people just needing food and new clothing. Sydney, I totally agree that a lot of people who need help need friends and love. When I was in Mexico a long time ago, I remember seeing whole families on the streets trying to sell my family jewelry and bubble gum and a bunch of other stuff. One child I will never forget chased after my family as we just walked past them. I felt so bad. All she wanted was someone to buy something from her so she could eat. All she needed was compassion someone concerned enough to give it. Some ways we can serve others now is donating clothing and passing out food to homeless people like Bethany said. I think that is an awesome thing to do.
I'm not sure what I want people to catch on to and run with. I haven't ever thought about it. I'll think about it and get back later.

sorry, another comment. what brittany said, yeah it was the same way in puerto rico and jamaica. in puerto rico, there is part of the island that is REALLY, REALLY rich and then suddenly you drive into the other part that is REALLY, REALLY poor. that just isn’t right. and the same in jamaica but not nearly as bad. that’s just awful. i think they also need our compassion.
Needs that I see around is a need for love. And a need for someone to just sit down and talk with you. I could serve others now by just being there for them when they are down and just giving them love along with the other things they need that I could supply. A dream that I have is that when I graduate from college I want to start a girls orphanage. I want others to think about the children that have no family in this country and to just try and give them something that they need.

P.S. sorry this is so late I just started work and I have not had much of a chance to get to this.
A need I see around me is the need for more ministry. So many people not to care about God. But then again if we put forth more of an effort to teach the good word then people won't even know what the bible is. I could fix this by sharing it with some of my friends. Then it's like a chain reaction. They tell thier parents who tell thier friends who tell thier friends who...etc.

All around me are Elderly who cannot take care of themselves of their houses very well, i could go around with some friends once or twice a week and ask the eldrly who are in need if they would like some help or when im out walking and i see someone who is having a hard time with something i could go over and help them.
As for my ideas i wish that people will just try an ddo a little at a time to help others, most of the time people think that to help others you haveto do something over the top and extrodinary, but ots not like that, you an do something small like donating things that you dont use or clothes that dont fit you to a local shelter or even just praing for those in need.
Around me i see people who can't find a job or have been laid off for a long time, people in poverty, people who need a home, people who need love and cared about, people being abused, and people who can't stop taking drugs.. by helping in programs at church, school, and other places that you know of..giving some of your stuff to kids who's dads are out of work...help people out when you see something that needs done are some things you can do to serve others..i don't have a dream yet for anyone to catch on to.. Stephanie
I see around me people that need life’s basic necessities. Lots of people even in Akron don’t have a roof over their heads or they are not getting enough to eat. Everyone could serve them by just helping out at a community center or the Haven of Rest.
I don’t really have a dream that I want others to go with. I usually go with other people’s dreams if I like them. So I guess it’s helping other’s dreams.
There are so many people who are just so lost and confused and need guidance. We can set good examples and reach out to those who need Jesus in their lives. There are so many people who are homeless and could just use a good job to help get money and sometimes its hard for those people to find jobs. It would be awesome to get a place that could help people with that. I'm not sure if there already is something like that or not. At this point I don't really have a dream so in the mean time, I'm just serving God hoping others will follow.

I think that before we can make a difference and truly help people we need to help ourselves.
Matthew 7:5 - You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
well the best i can come up with is that i really kind of hate it when people say things but don't fully know what they mean. like when old peoples say "for pete's sake". WHO IN THE WORLD IS PETE PEOPLE?? I MEAN COME ON!!!!! on a more serious note that could mean something really bad and you would never know because you just always heard everyone say it all your life. also when people say oh my. um, oh my??? what, so to agree with you would i say "yes, oh your". in fact, i sometimes say that and people just kind of are left speechless. i also don't like it when people imply things. like "it would be really nice if you did this..." and then you don't do it and they get all mad. or when people say man alive when they are mad. nobody says man dead when they are happy. or also when people say digruntled employees. are there any gruntled employees?
yes i know that was kind of a stupid dream but i'm only 14 and at the moment i don't have any huge dreams at this point. like kiersten said i just want to help the people around me. aside from the missions trip that's all we can do right now.
there are PLENTY of things you can do to help people around you. if you look, you could see people that need help --> elderly ones. hungry ones. ones who need clothes. homeless ones. ones who need friends. ones who need love.
even saying 'please' and 'thank you' or giving someone a compliment could make their day. ask someone if there is anything you can do to help. its not only the big things that count.

I have some friends that don't know the Lord.I have been trying to show God's love to them and lead them to Christ.
Almost every year my grandparents go to Mexico and set up kind of a medical tent type thing. A ton of people line up to get check ups or surgeries or other things like that. They go with some kind of chuch group and they can show God's love to those people. i might get to go this year or next year and i think that it would be a really cool thing to be able to help with.

I agree with liz and ben that the people who need the most help aare the ones who are to proud to ask for it. I also agree with kiersten in sayoing that there are people around the world that need help, but we also need to think about the people right beside us. We need to look at the whole entire picture and not only help the ones that need the most help.
I would just like to help people that need anykind of help, like maybe they just need someone to care about them. I think that just helping people will help them come to know God, and that is basically what our missions trips are all about. Im not really sure about a dream that i would have but, now I will be thinking about it.-Kalie H.
ok, alot of times we have our minds 100% set on the third countries, but we also need to focus on the areas around us in America and the inner-city area. They need help too. And when helping we need to stop thinking about ourselves and think of others.

I always see those people begging for jobs by the walmarts and the other bussness, bacially I see the need for more jobs for the lower class people. Right now I think I could serve thoes people by donating things like old stuff that still can be used and is just sitting around the house.
i think some needs are COMPASSION it would be a much better world if everybody was just copassionet to one another. i mean just common currdesy would be nice. i think that some ways to serve others could be a missions trip, a drive for a foundation, or even making sandwiches for the homeless shelters.
George muller was the kind of kid my parents wouldn't let me hang out with of course but what parent would let there kids hang out with him.but he did a turn around when his father sent him away. i thought he would do terrible and quit but i was wrong. hes a good man. i had no clue who mother Teresa was until i read this book. she was a very kind and caring person. she prayed every day and never gave up. Steve carter is cool to because he is a minister. julia
